Ah. I should have clarified.

I like Glorantha as an ancient world. Bronze age, or early iron age.

No stirrups for anybody, that is.

Uh, 2-h swords from horseback? I wouldn't try that even with stirrups. A battlesword is a footmans weapon, and more than that. It's a higly trained specialist's weapon.

A strong knight (in crusading times) can use a bastard-sword from the saddle, making it a heavy 1h weapon for the purpose.
