Trotsky:

>'Lodril'. The latter may represent warm earth or something
>like that - or just 'protection' of course.

Someone else shares the recollection I didn't quite trust! Yes, Lodril makes sense because it's basically a Fire rune that's turned square, so to speak. Fire Within Earth, that's Lodril alright. Or maybe "The Pissed-off Earth".

Mikko:

>Bah. Why can't the combat represent Storm?

Ummm, because a Death rune is pictured next to it in the Hero Wars book?

>Me no like. I'll take the combat (silly affinity btw), to mean storm.

But none of Vinga's combat feats are particularly Storm-related.

Anyway, I was really just answering the question "which runes are listed for Vinga's affinities" here, my speculation about "which runes represent Vinga as a deity" is much more tentative.

Henrix:

>Yes, I was a bit surprised that G:IttHW listed Vinga as one of the six main
>goddesses of Esrolia.

Hmmm, another piece of the puzzle. It's starting to seem like Vinga is definitely an Earth goddess that somehow managed to become an aspect of Orlanth - without actually manifesting any Air powers. Being his daughter might make up for that. Of course, with those cthonic connections it seems very likely that she's also Ernalda's daughter, and not the result of one of Orlanth's other affairs.
