Thanks, Pete. So the Challenge here may have been something like "an inn, with the Sky not kept out by a roof, but where you don't get rained on". Since Grazers are quite keen on Sky and generally don't think much of fixed dwellings... And the Sartar dynasty have dwarven friends, so get them to build it.
And your other, oddball-magnet theory, fits in nicely. That was *why* Tarkalor picked Apple Lane as the place to put all this. After all, given what he was like in his youth, he probably *was* one of those crazy adventurers who got attracted there :)
Then again, maybe this is one of those "magic mushroom" occasions, and I should drink coffee and go and do some serious and boring work :(
