Slight protest. This list says we may not assume anyone to possess anything published before HW. And we've all been very good about that: if older works are referred to (and of course they are! throw away decades of work? are you mad?) then if we give page numbers at all, we also give content. Precised if at all possible. The sentence above simply wouldn't happen.
