Here, Heortlings would have the advantage of knowing, more or less, whether Orlanth intends to storm it up. They probably couldn't control when the rains would be, but they'd have a good chance of knowing when they could count on three dry days. (Possibly not long in advance, though. The Orlanth Thunderous god-talker might get up one morning and say "Cut the hay *now*--tomorrow is too late!")

Sun-worshippers, like the Dara Happans, might count on their gods to overpower the storms and *force* three sunshiney days.

I think among the Lunars, maize cultivation requires human sacrifice. I don't know if Heortlings use it at all, but I doubt it--the combination of "it's a lunar grain" and "it requires human sacrifice" is probably a double-whammy against it.
