Oh yes! The relevation of the athletic cup came as a thing of wonderous beauty to me, having been on the wrong end of one too many slapshots.

Street hockey is played throughout the year with movable nets, hockey sticks and anything that will move on pavement (usually a tennis ball).

(Car... Game on)

A rather famous beer commercial features a pickup game of street hocky on Bay St. (Toronto's version of Wall Street), complete with folks waiting for the streetcar to go by.

Probably. Might be a one-sided affair though, especially in lacrosse. Ouch. Still, I suspect it serves as a social pressure valve just short of warfare, particularly in the more chaotic (ahem) areas of Orlanthi culture.

I suspect that flyers are relatively rare so that this might be relegated to only one or two positions - varying by confederation/kingdom. Flyer... Blocker... oh damn. I think we've reinvented something from "Final Reflection" by John Ford "Klin Zha" or somesuch.

One of my regrets about moving to the US will be that my kids (assuming I ever get any!) won't learn the joys of hockey. The liklyhood of them learning the skills required in Charleston is vanishingly small. It makes me feel a bit pensive.
