"The Dara Happan Job"

Having just rewatched "The Italian Job", have any other TV-watching Brits or fans of the film thought this to be a great basis for a fun Gloranthan scenario?

You could work several versions up. Taking the obvious Orlanthi-Lunar paradigm, you could have a big shipment of gold/magic/treasure to a big city in the Empire or Provinces (Glamour, Raibanth, Yuthuppa... well, perhaps not Alkoth...), occurring at the same time as a prominent festival and sporting occasion (a big chariot racing contest, for example).

Into this situation step a motley bunch of Orlanthi rebels (including the Lhankor Mhy expert who 'likes 'em big, a camp Nandan housekeeper turned bandit, and three rather well-spoken Ralian Mastakian charioteers) who, working with a Mr. Big in a Furthest or Aldachuri gaol (his cell festooned with likenesses of Kallyr), seek to pull off the most audacious caper in history.

Led by a roguish Finovani, working against the Imperial authorities and Lunar underworld, they aim to infiltrate the city under the cover of the celebrations, as visitors flock from all around, and pull off the heist. This is followed by wild chariot* races through the bustling streets, chased by all manner of incompetent Lunars, and then out into the mountains and country of the Empire. And towards an oh-so-obvious 'cliff-hanger' ending...

*painted red, white and blue, no less...

Cheerio,

Stu.

"This chariot... belongs... to the Teshnan... ambassador."
