Further speculation: Perhaps by joining Humakt, the kids have cut themselves off from the natural process of life such that they never actually hit puberty. Perhaps they still age (aging is part of death) but without sexually maturing. So when you get close to that legion of ten-year-olds, you see that some of those beardless soprano boys have gray hair and wrinkles...
