Stephen you have captured the mystery of dragons far better than I did.

I think that you are closer to Greg's writings about dragonkind than I was. He talks about their need to "master" the passive/aggressive dichotomy. I simply translated some early attempts to model the relevant duelisms with Pendragon personality traits into HeroQuest mechanics. But I made the mistake of suggesting that one pair of the duality was the "good" and one the "bad."

As your sample scene would have it ...

Perhaps a dragonewt character could have a "Transcend passive/aggressive duality" Personality trait. Or not. Such phrases are a little unwieldy though. And it makes them sound awfully Hegelian.

O.K., now I am clearly descending into Digest territory.

But if anyone can explain how to represent the 'newt quest to overcome dualism in either a) HQ scenarios or b) using HQ mechanics, then we might be able to stay here a little longer.
