Just an idea (completely unofficial, of course ;-)).

IMG, dragonewt's behaviour is related to their knowledge of past reincarnations.

They believe that each action has its consequence in the eternal cycle of time and they are trying to escape from these cycles for reaching dragonhood (liberating "karman" or something like that). Their actions haven't sense in a single lifetime, but are part of a greater picture.

The text in:
http://www.glorantha.com/library/elder/dragonewts-mythos.html

"If someone does a favor for a dragonewt then the dragonewt will owe some return favor of equal or greater value. These owed favors are considered to be a great burden on a dragonewt's development since he must attempt to fulfil them through lifetimes, if possible. These are not relevant in terms of friendship or agreement but must be returned even if it impedes their own development. The dragon religion urges that dragonewts avoid these owed favors but their duties and orders often prevent it, thus entanglements enter into their lives".

I apply something like that not only for "favors" but for everything. They avoid new duties (more entanglement) buy they have to fulfill their past duties, the consequences of their previous actions.

Some humans (some kralorelans or EWF people) are able to understand some of this, but nobody understand completely dragonewt's behaviour. Human mind can't see the complete "picture".

Antonio
