Thinking about it more, that is exactly perfect. It is a perfect description of the sort of quest a devotee would go on to learn a feat. He'd re-enact one of the occasions when the god of his devotion used said feat. Often you'd just do it off stage, sometimes you'd do it as a simple contest ("roll your devotee of ability versus a target of X, you can augment with your generosity trait"). Sometimes it might be played through as a simple quest.
