There's a fine hero band in MoLaD (the two-handed
somthing or other) filled with well-meaning Lunars who
have little truck with Chaos, go into barbarian areas,
and try to get friendly by doing good deeds. Perhaps
he's really one of them, and sees a lot he does not
like in the empire (chaos, degenerates, tomatos,
whatever). He could simpkly decide to help the
narbarians a little more to prove tot hem that the
empire isn't all bad. He'd need not set out on any
grand crusade against the empire in order to help the
locals against the trolls, chaos monstrosities, etc.
And, if he gets further converted by some white
moonies, perhaps he thinks that shedding the empire is
needed for Sedenya's next transformation, so he's
actually helping.
Also, he might not be from the lunar heartlands. He
might be a barbarian culturally.
