In my experience, shaman PCs are difficult, since their focus is somewhat different from that of the other PCs.

But this guy sounds a bit like he's picked up some of the trappings of a shaman, without all the relationships and tradition knowledge.

This does sound like he will actually be dealing with spirits, rather than the vague (but useful!) Draconic Lore that my Pavis sage had.

You could make a spirit-related subcult of Lhankor Mhy (analogous to the sorcery-related Torvald). There's something like this in my Umathela, with the affinity Spirits (Detect Spirit, Fight Spirit, Summon Known Spirit, Talk with Spirit, Ward Off Spirits).
