OK, that's getting me closer to understanding.

So.....If a hero worships Besdi Solf Du and gets the affinities of Excess and Stealth plus a mess of talents that come from the cult, he can concentrate on ALL the things that come from the cult as long as he excludes ALL other common magic?

That makes sense to me.
