I have always found that the newbies take to HeroQuest faster and much better than the old RQers.

I have always used pre-generated heroes for my demo games at conventions and we do have some good games with them. However I do think that we miss out on one of HeroQuest's strengths which is the excellent character generation.

Over the last couple of years demoing the game at conventions I feel the same [although it has only been 24 years for me ;-) ].
