Actually, I think every request in this thread for some political indicator has said things like "approximate" or "at one point in time" or "as one culture sees it"

It has been mostly the those saying "No you shouldn't have this" who have been using the line on the map phrasing.

Sure, but if you only had a map that had the word "iriquois" down around the finger lakes, and the word "Cree" somewhere around James Bay, and maybe "Huron" somewhere around Monreal, that wouldn't give you much of an idea at all of where there typical hungint grounds and usual camps were at all. That is the complaint.
