Come to think of it, if you could "convince the examiners"....

"any Heortling woman who has undergone Ernaldan initiation" can join Vinga.

And Nandans are "women who have the shape of men". "He"'s an aspect of Ernalda.

Yes, I think you're right. The scenario you describe would head towards the Red Woman sub-cult - the one that loses fertility anyway.
