There are a number of ways to fit the varying perceptions of Praxian climate
to the published numbers.
- ignore the numbers and say they are wrong. YGMV
- say the 'inches' are Sun County inches and therefore wrong (YIMV). (No
comments as to why a Sun County inch are smaller than other inches - but I guess
it's the sexual repression.)
- the figures were correct for a couple of years that the figures were
recorded for, but are wildly off for being typical over a longer period.
- they are Lunar propaganda used to tempt settlers to the Grantlands. They
might also add that the local nomads worship a demon killing god and are
principally interested in keeping broo away rather than murdering settlers. (YPMV)
- Weather has been getting wetter, bringing hordes of pesky herd pestering
insects, since the drippy Orlanthi arrived. Storm Bull will solve all of these
problems when the White Bull comes to united the tribes! (YNomadhordeMV)
- They are correct but do run off and evaporate and sink into the Dead
Bottom, and are not as useful as they might be. Rainfall in Sydney, Australia, is
48inches per year. It seems pretty dry here to me (an englishman), most of the
time. If the trees were less bushfire resistant, and we were overrun with
marauding herd beasts then it would be pretty lacking in vegetation.
- How do the adventurerous heroes get to know what the rainfall is in any
case? Are they Lankhor Mhy weather specialists, or Ronance revivalists or
Rainman obsessives? Mostali Lead Plumbers? Is it part of the story to investigate
average rainfall? No wonder the figures are wrong! YHeroesMV.

I like 2 and 7 the best. 2 because it means I can insult Sun County, and 7
becasue I can now run an adventure based on the exploits of a hero band of
rainfall meteorologists. (A dwarf, a sage, a Praxian shaman and an Orlanthi Godi
walk into Gimpy's: "Got any rainfall charts?")
