Death of Balastor

I am thinking of running a one-off Heroquest based on the death of Balastor the Axe.
The players would take the roles of Balastor, and his three brave companions. My outline so far is:

Scene one: trolls hordes attack - an extended contest where the heroes plan to sell their lives dearly in order that others can escape. The scene would be expected to end with Balastor dead, with 2 other companions probably dead, and one escapee fleeing through the barracks.

Scene 2: This would be Balastor in the Courts of Silence, with Pavis speaking up for him so that he can return to wreck vengeance on the trolls. Possibly aided by other dead comrades. Possibly meet Hendrus, his valet ghost.

Scene 3: Hunted by trolls - the escapee (and maybe the recovered "probably dead" companions) are being hunted by trolls through the barracks. Goodness know how they can survive this. I am thinking that the "hunting trolls" are less interested in hunting humans as doing other stuff like - setting up a base, fighting amongst themselves (ZZ vs Karrgs for example) looting etc.

It seems terribly railroaded to me, but one thing that appealed to me was the fact that we have some definite events, all of . I am not sure if it would be a reasonable thing for a newbie to play, or a nostalgia trip for an old grognard or would dissatisfy both.

I was thinking that the last scene, where Balastor comes back into the axe, could then be a battle of wills between the escaping human and Balastor's will to continue fighting the trolls as long as he could, even in the form of an axe.

Any suggestions on this idea? I am thinking of Balastor as a 10W2 kinda guy, but also realised that he must be sixty or so years old so, unless he had conquered age, was not like my original perception of him.
