Of course you could use a name day instead of birthday. (The year I
celebrated twice - when we were in France on my name day and back in
England for my birthday).
Basically, instead of celebrating your birthday, you celebrate on the
saint's day that you were named after. This might be something more
likely in the West than in Sartar (unless people are called after
heroes).
