This sounds to me like a case of Your Clan Will Vary. As do many other bits.

Looks to me like we've established a general consensus that Orlanthi do celebrate some sort of "personal" day, probably the "naming" day, and there there is religious/magical significance to the date of actual birth.

But the day from which one measures age, and the means of celebrating that personal day, will be something that varies between clans (and campaigns!)

Personally I'm still very unsure about age notching up on the same day for every child. I remember the importance of being nearly seven-and-a-quarter, and of being two weeks younger than a competitor. Yes, us old fogies don't really care, but when a year is a significant proportion of your life, you do.
