There still are in Manchester, to some extent. I'm surprised to hear that City are the more progressive team.

My attempts to run a commodities type plotline involved the scintillating bush runners, the most beautiful pets in the world, imported from Pamaltela during the 2nd Age. I had them transported as 'bulbs' and to have had a similar plot to the 'dutch tulipmania' combined with an old Judge Dredd plot about singing vegetable heads.

I guess there was also some 'cheese to Balazar' action, and some sort of bizarre material that the dwarfs of the Brass Mountains wanted in exchange for brass in theri annual bad deal. (I'm guessing from memory that it was some sort of 'muck' that htey wanted.

The Dragon Pass gazzeteer has a few hints at exotic items that might be of use in the Empire - food that trolls can't eat being one that springs to mind.
