I used that in a story, once. Faced with something that's obviously magic, but doesn't show up on Soul Sight (or presumably the spirit equivalent, though I'm not sure how the protagonist knew) - it must be sorcery! Burn it!

It was a still. No magic involved. But it burnt *very* well indeed :)
