HonEel's ritual and the Ignorance ritual are not the same. Although there are common elements in both rituals, other elements of the ritual are different. HonEel did not consciously know she was trying to adapt an Ignorance ritual when she quested for Corn.

She came across the wounded elf-god (Sinoda) being menaced by the wicked Alanthore. In trying to rescue Sinoda, she found it was necessary to bleed Alanthore dry.
