Jane:

| Etc - looks good, but a llnk to the original, whatever that might be, or
at
| least a hint to feed into Google, would help no end.|
| Can you see the stars my Kallyr?

You **youngsters** (sigh). :)

That must make it an **ancient** viking classic.

These particular vikings/Wolf Pirates also produced the battle dirge 'Grizzly Peak (I was defeated you won the war)' and the berserker classic, 'I Hit You (I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do)'

If you're still stuck try here...

or listen to this
http://www.findmidis.com/download.go/581

or this
http://smickandsmodoo.com/rocknroll/fern1.mid

Both of which come with full morocanth pipe band and baboon duck-skull maraccas. Then as now, no one does Prax quite like the Wolf Pirates...

Then either bang you head, groan, put on some Sigur Ros, or preferably all three at once. At leat we have a full weekend to recover. :)

DO ***NOT*** ATTEMPT THIS SOBER
| Can you see the stars my Kallyr?
| I remember long ago another heroes night like this
| In the firelight your red hair
| flared like the Flame of Sartar high in Boldhome's square
| I could hear the thunder drums
| The drones of battle pipes were cutting through the air
|
| Can you see the walls of Whitewall?
| I remember long ago they stood defiant and so proud
| It was Orlanth's last great temple
| And we fought for freedom dear while Lunar foes pressed all around
| For as long as we could hold strong then the free winds they would blow
| And the mighty Storm of Orlanth yet strike terror 'gainst our foe.
|
| What's that in the sky my Red Queen
| Like a star yet burning red it seems to move against the night?
| Should I be afraid my Kallyr?
| We were strong and heroes all, and we'd come to blow a storm
| But the tales I'd heard of Runegate
| make me feel now so forlorn...
|
| There was something in the air that night
| a fierce red light, my red queen
| It was closing now to you and me
| The white city, my red queen.
| Though I wasn't sure yet what it was
| I had regrets
| If I had to do the same again
| I might, my friend, my Red Queen
|
|
| It was closer now my Red Queen
| Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
| I was so afraid my Kallyr
| We were young and heroes all but few of us wanted to die
| And I'm not ashamed to say
| The looming glow of chaos well it almost made me cry
|
| There was something in the air that night
| a fierce red light, my red queen
| It was the Crimson Bat you see
| And so hungry, my red queen.
| Though I was sure that we would flee
| We held the wall
| If I had to face that foe again
| No way, my friend, my Red Queen
|
| Now we're old and grey and wiser
| And since those many years have gone I lift a lighter spear
| Can you see my scars my Red Queen?
| Do you still recall that frightful eve on city height?
| You and Broyan beat the bloody Bat
| The rest of us took flight.
|
| There was something in the air that night
| a fierce red light, my red queen
| It was the Crimson Bat you see
| And so hungry, my red queen.
| Though I was sure that I'd wet my kilt
| I ran away
| If I had to face that foe again
| No way, my friend, my Red Queen
|
| There was something in the air that night
| a fierce red light, my red queen
| It was the Crimson Bat you see
| And and eyeing me, my red queen.
| And I was sure that we'd be all chewed
| If we hung about
| Oh if I had to face that foe again
| No way, get out, my Red Queen.
