Thinking about it the Esrolian tradition only requires *a* husband/ protector. It can be one of many Orlanth, Elmal, Yelmalio, Urox, Argan Argar and many others. Even Eurmal could be a husband/protector though that'll be a weird myth.

Not a problem, he creates a proxy for that purpose. The Lunars can also send Hon-Eel priestesses down to introduce maize. Similar blood sacrifices needed but it doesn't have to be anyone important.

"the Old Ways" being different dependant on who you're speaking to. Mostly they involve going back before the Birth of the Red Goddess.
