It is worse than that. The player has to be prepared to annoy all the other players by doing really disruptive things. Bruce Ferrie tried to play a trickster properly and that was the problem that he found - how to strike the balance between being true to the character and maintaining story flow (and maintaining friendly relations with the rest of us).
