I think that for wizards, per se, heroquesting is very different. The magic of adept wizardry comes not from worshiping anyone, but from study of the essences. Sorcerers (in the sense of an adept who doesn't belong to a school sponsored by a church) are proof of this. It seems to me that wizardry heroquests are all about doing the sort of things that Zzabur did, meaning going to the heroplane and tracking down certain essences, and learning about them, etc.

Yeah, this may seem somehow "dry" as compared to the sorts of heroics that we think of associated with theism, etc, but that doesn't mean that such a quest would be without perils. The oddity of these quests, I think, probably tend to drive a lot of wizards mad, or at least make them the eccentrics that they tend to be.

Oh, BTW, I have this strong urge to have different terms for questing to different otherworlds. For the Hero Plane, Heroquesting will do. But for the God World can it be Godquesting? Spiritquesting for the spirit world? Essencequesting for the essence world (to, for example, link a grimoire)?

Otherwise we end up having to clarify things as "heroquesting to the god world" etc.
