I remember that in one Chaosium item there was mentioned a playtester named Apple Lane. :-)

The multipe Apple Lane idea is supported by anecdote.

As I remember, "Apple Lane" was an esoteric joke in the early days of   chaosium, and as such appers on many early maps published by them.

Im afraid most of my evidence to support this come from half   remembered boozy chats at various conventions, but Apple Lane appers   on the map of Arkham in Call of Cthulhu, and as has been pointed out   the Pavis Map.

As a test of this theory did it appear on the Map of Sanctuary in   Thieves world? Any one know of any others?

To pull this back on topic, any continuation of the tradition of   'seeding' the maps of Glorantha with Apple Lane referrences is a good   thing and only to be encouraged.

P.S. I think there was more depth to the "joke" but I suspect only   Greg, Sandy, et al. can really enlighten us on this, and as it was in   in-joke they may not be forthcomming on the issue.
