Strangely I find the Eastender accent pretty understandable - I think it has drifted a lot like American English has in many ways.
I'm not saying I understand any of it perfectly. Hardly. Just that I don't seem to have problems communicating with any of these groups.
I had some problems with the various Indian accents for a few months, but now that my manager is from Mumbai (Bombay), I only rarely have any trouble with that accent at all. Which is to say that I think that spending to overcome such accent problems should be cheap and fast.
