My Rule of thumb has generally been to buy "Fan" publications from the "fan" organisations (RMM, Tradetalk, UW as appropriate) and "Professional" publications from my FLGS. This is only slightly disrupted by my considering the Moon Design reprints as "Professional" - more on a basis of the size, I think than any inherent difference in quality
