And the Praixan's can't afford the luxuries of 'seeing it it will work' -- their existence is just too hard-scrabble to risk anything that doesn't cleave to the tried and true methods of their forefathers. Heck, they should have Conservative in their keyword.

It would feel like, oh, say (names a famous modern fantasy author who needs an editor)...

But you're right. Glorantha draws on archtypes -- those deep, dark, primal building blocks of culture. The modernworld seems to eschew them (which is probably just as well).
