More importantly, from a business standpoint, *distributors* get very cranky when publishers miss announced release dates. The solicit orders, which often have to be paid for at the time of order (not on delivery) - especially if you deal with Alliance Distributors - and when the release dates comes and goes, those distributors have to refund those payments, cancel all orders and resolicit when the book actually comes out. If a publisher does that too often, they'll just stop carrying those product lines. And then where are we?
