Charles Corrigan:

<< The Vinga keyword is available in the first book and, if I understand the intent, has access to all of the sub-cults of Orlanth Adventurous/Warrior>>

I'd expect that she has access to the Orlanth Thunderous stuff as well, since women could become storm magicians in RQ, and presumably its through Vinga that they do it.

Graham Robinson:

<<The point is that Thunder Rebels gives female characters the heady choice of housewife, medic, or prostitute. None of which are fun characters to play.
>>

A lot of people seem to have played medics under RQ, and Chalana Arroy types are a good deal more limiting than some of the much more fun character types provided for Ernaldan healers in TR. And, besides, TR has plenty of fun character types for women besides the three you mention (I didn't even notice the prostitute myself, but I haven't had time to read it thoroughly yet). If you're telling us that there aren't any characters anyone in your group would enjoy playing, that's fair enough (and unfortunate), but its a far cry from there being 'no playable female characters' IMO, which was your original claim.

<<For the record, I said "we'll have to wait for Storm Tribe for interesting female characters". >>

A statement which is clearly untrue, though, IMO, given the number of interesting female character possibilities in TR. I think that's the core of our disagreement. You presumably meant "I'll have to wait for Storm Tribe for female characters I'd be interested in playing", which may well be an entirely reasonable comment.

<<Admittedly that is ignoring the Ernalda the Queen and similar cults and some of the advanced occupations. But that's because I (and I suspect many others) aren't running campaigns where people are playing such characters. >>

Well, TR has only just come out. It would be difficult to play the characters before we had the information necessary to do so ;-)

<< However, the list of options for women in the standard careers is not exciting,>>

     I really can't agree, I'm afraid.

<< and the default character is terrifying - reminds me of D&D campaigns where the last person to turn up has to play the cleric...>>

Not my cup of tea, either, to be honest. But then, neither is the default male character.
