It is also worth keeping mind that the Darkness lasted a long time. According to one story, more than fifty generations spanned the time between the destruction of the Vingkotlings in the Sword and Helm Saga and the birth of Heort. During all that time (and more), sacrificing to the gods would have been a waste of increasingly scarce resources.

Personally, I think that Worlath is simply a Malkioni name for Orlanth and is not a different god. I read that as saying that the Malkioni claim that the pagans of the Seshnegi and the Akemi worshipped Orlanth.

Similar to the suspicion and hostility the Dragon Pass Orlanthi had towards the Arkatings.:)

Heck the Orlanthi of Ralios got the "best of both worlds" - they actively resisted the EWF, yet the presence of the EWF kept the GLers from being able to take aggressive action against the Ralian Orlanthi. Additionally, I suspect a lot of Heortling traditionalists ended up in Ralios - part of that ongoing back and forth influx between the Ralian Orlanthi and the Dragon Pass Orlanthi.
