There used to be ten stone phalanxes which were regarded as the walls of Dara Happa. In the archives of the Glorantha Digest, and probably elsewhere, there's a list of which explains what happened to them all. There aren't that many left.

There are separate peltast units such as the Silver Shields to perform that function. For an army as big as the Lunar one the remaining stone phalanxes provide a very small proportion.

The Heartland Corps is exactly what it says it is, the grouping of regiments from the Lunar Heartlands for the purpose of the invasion of Sartar. It's not a permanent unit - the largest permanent units of the Lunar army are regiments. In a sense it is like a Vexilla but it's a lot bigger - vexilla are made up of several companies or sections from different regiments. I'm not sure what guardians, if anything, the Corps of the Lunar army have. I suspect it's something associated with the general's document of authority.

Even during the invasion and occupation of Sartar the makeup of the Heartland Corps won't be consistant as units are rotated in and out.
