Well, prompted entirely by this thread, but...
Orlanthi can take a "bed wife" or "bed husband". Now I think the book says that no property changes hands in these circumstances, but that needn't be the case. Providing neither partner is already married it needn't even be illegal or immoral (at least to Orlanthi eyes - Stuffy Solar types might put an entirely different spin on it).
Of course, this means that in an Urban Heortling society the Madam is probably a follower of Ernalda the Matchmaker (don't recall the "proper" name i'm afraid)...
