My favourite example of boasting is in Beowulf sections 8-9 where
Beowulf describes his swimming race against Breca son of Beanstan.
This exploit involves him swimming the Baltic whilst wearing a mail
hauberk and carrying a sword, fighting and killing nine sea monsters
during a storm at night and ending up washed up in Lapland.
