Orlanthi Wyters appear to be a seriously useful addition to group defense. Do other cultures have similar spiritual guardians?

If they do (and I assume so) then what are they called in non-orlanthi cultures? In Dara Happa? Carmania? Pelanda? The Prax?

What about out west? Does the village liturgist beseech the Invisible God or a Saint to send a "guardian angel" or some such to defend his flock?
