I haven't thought of ot before, but this actually mirrors the mistake and downfall of the god learners: they wrought change in the hero plane which affected the mortal world as well, but made the false assumption that this change would be permanent.

Orlanth's return to Dragon Pass is then a lot like the universe snapping back to its pre-god learner state.
