In swedish law there is also a more recent meaning of odal
as the personal property of one partner in a marriage, which
the wife/husband has no inheritance rights to.
Bu this is straying off topic. I don't think anybody will
misunderstand the heortling meaning of the word after the
initial surprise has worn off.
