A fantastic site devoted to well researched essays on mythography and mythology. About half the content is of direct relevance to using mythic structures in gaming. (Well I think so... :))

Before diving into the multi-volume Levi-Straussian corpus (personally its not something i'd recommend for gaming purposes, just read 'Aswidal") or other tomes, check out Foamy Custard for a summary of the ideas and criticisms of each theorist.
