It actually is impossible for me to exclude any one person from the group, which meets at a friends house. We socialise, sometimes work and interact outside of gaming, and excluding one player for six months would effectively cut off a huge amount of their time with friends. It would not be deemed polite or indeed possible for me to disinvite any one person from my friends gathering at his house, where the same group has played diffferent rpg's ever since a painful divorce when we dedcided to see him once a week (he lives in a very isolated rural community.)

Being disruptive is definitely a way to demonstrate disatisfaction with the game, and once we stopped and listened to the players complaints we understood his viewpoint: it was not the game for him. I enjoy Scrabble, but Monopoly bores me, and enjoy Diplomacy but dislike Risk. I gave up on the campaign, and we played another game we could all enjoy.

However, I now have the chance of an evening slot without this player, but his complaints have reached the ears of several potential players. One actually looked up augments in HeroQuest to understand L's point, and inform me the issue is a widely percieved one, with some people favouring a cap, others not???

The issue of the player is resolved: I would not dis-invite a gamer, but always ask "why does this not work for you?", although if they voluntarily drop out for a few months, that is fine. I dropped out of the Star Wars D20 game they loved, because it did not interest me, ditto CyberPunk, and I don't play AD&D with these players - just not my thing. They enjoy RuneQuest, and thats fine by me. We all like simulationism/crunch, and so games which feature those sort of rules are fine.

What si an issue is how to introduce people so they enjoy, and thansk very much for all the good advice. I am not terribly impressed by the G/N/S model but Robin Law's Laws of the Game has a very handy guide to matching games to players, and I recommend it.
