Hi!
In this particular case, I was thinking of the Sunset Society (the counter in the Nomad Gods board game - a group of magicians specializing in darkness magic). Would this be an "independent community" such that it would qualify as a "hero band" under your definition? Or is it still closer to one of the warrior societies?
