I believe it is more specific than that & often clan or cult specific. For example Bison riders would only have a choice of clan Bison, Impala riders would only have clan Impala, etc. There are many types of Bear so I believe you would have to specify it to things like "White bears" or "Grizzly" or whatever the clan myth involves. It also may be Cult-linked such as Alynx for Yinkin.
