Hi to all.

I am going to narrate a Jaldon HeroQuest as a major event for a hero of my campaign. He is a Sable Khan supported by Lunar magics (which he accepts but doesn't want to be dominated by) and is trying to reenact the return of Jaldon as Khan of the Khans of Prax. To his partial ignorance, the Lunars aiding him are trying to manipulate the ritual to trasform the Khan of the Khans in the fabled Moon Khan, an instrument of the Goddess' will in the Wastes of Prax (to be used against the Pentans and the Sartarite rebels). The year is end of the 1618.

The ritual takes place between the Devil's Knob and the Serpent of the Gates of Dusk, in the Wastelands. The Sable Khan has obatined an ancient artifact, made originally by Waha himself, called the Star of the Five Tribes, which helps him in exercising his authority over the Tribes. I figure it as about a 10W2 object.

The ritual is an animistic HQ.
Question: how much an animistic HQ is different from a theist HQ?

The stations should be the following ones (roughly):

  1. The taming of the herds: in which the hero chooses the animal herds he wants to command and must dominate/tame a sample of each beast (augmentations for the owner of the Star of the Five Tribes and for the sable antelope test).
  2. The debate with the Hermothers: in which the hero uses his charming and logical skills to persuade the powerful herdmothers of Eiritha to lend him their help and blessing for the coming battle.
  3. The Choice of the mount: in which the hero chooses his own mount (possibly not among the living herds in order not to stir jealousy), names it and binds it to himself.
  4. The choice of the allies (both military and magical): in which the hero chooses among a wide array of options his main helpers, among the Giants, Dragons, Beastmen, Chaotics (!), Mostali, Aldryami, Uz, Horsepeople, Basmoli, Telmori, Solars, Orlanthi, Ernaldans, River people etc. Jaldon's choice here was: Giants.
  5. The assault of the citadel: in which the hero, with his allies, nomad followers and magics, assaults the citadel of his chosen foe (chosen among the same list of the previous station). Jaldon's choice here was, obviously, Dragon.

Epilogue and end of the HeroQuest, whose main results are the magic from the allies, the favor of the Tribes, the supremacy over their Khans and the mount.
