Because there are not any tracts of vast, dark, primeval forest. There's probably lots of light woods and forestation but nothing like the forests in, say, Pendragon or Ralios.
And there's really noone in the Empire to defend any pristine forests -- not really any elves and a lack of hsunchen too. Probably stands of dark, dank, deep forest here and there but not enough to show up on a map of THAT scale.
