Yes, except that they have already done it, I beleive.

I think it began as such, and the abovementioned heroquesters decided to test it to see if it was true and found it was true. For them. And such a peculiar band would be of certain interest to the Empire, which is always looking for ways to infiltrate other people's mythology.

And once again I am thinking that this was a subcult introduced by HonEel, along with her other innovations for the local religion.
