Or "Bridge of Sand," by John James. Hard to find, but well worth looking out for. It's about a failed Roman invasion of Ireland... excellent on the clash of Celtic and Roman cultures, very cynical.

Also "Not for All the Gold in Ireland", by the same author. Good Roman army mess scenes and camp life.
