You are in the wrong timeframe. Try the 400's. And the technology levels are MUCH different between these two eras. Jets vs ox-carts?

And, the 100 year war was really a dynastic struggle -- civil wars are by far the nastiest because they often become a struggle in which one side must destroy the other, rather than _defeat_ them. I suggest look at more relevant eras and struggles -- comparing the mitary conquest of Spain by the Romans (and the century long resistance) with the equally swift conquests by the Calipate of Islam and the LACK of subequent resistace due to their less rapacious and more concilitary methods.
